Katherine Ferguson of The ‘Serve Company is now the official videographer for the Slave Dwelling Project. In 2015, Katherine will appear at all of the overnight stays in former slave dwellings in the state of South Carolina to obtain footage. The footage of each overnight sleepover will be edited and made into short You Tube videos. An edited compilation of all the footage will debut at the 2nd Annual Slave Dwelling Project Conference which will be held at the Embassy Suites, October 8 – 10, 2015 in North Charleston, South Carolina.
The 2015 overnight stays currently scheduled for South Carolina are: Haig Point on Daufuskie Island; Hampton Plantation in Charleston County; Hobcaw-Barony in Georgetown County; Hopsewee Plantation in Georgetown County; Laurelwood Plantation in Eastover; McLeod Plantation in Charleston; and Redcliffe Plantation in Aiken County. If you would like to join us for one of these stays please let me know.
Katherine’s involvement in the project was made possible through a planning grant from the South Carolina Humanities Council.

I am so pleased that Katherine will be video-documenting sites in SC AND that her involvement has been supported by a planning grant. All very good news!
